Tobacco Prevention

Information and resources are available regarding tobacco use prevention. Youth volunteers and community groups participate in program activities.

Share and coordinate resources to reduce and prevent commercial tobacco use in Grant County.

To prevent tobacco use while letting the general public know it is the number one killer.

Tobacco Cessation Options in Grant County

Grant County has cessation classes/resources through:

  • Moses Lake Professional Pharmacy: Contact Shawn Needham, Pharmacist, 509-764-2314

  • Moses Lake Clinic offers a group cessation class entitled: "Freedom from Smoking", a curriculum of ALAW(American Lung Association of Washington). Contact Deb Miller, 509-764-6400 ext. 8072.
  • Moses Lake Community Health Center will provide a smoking cessation consultation when referred by a Physician . 509-765-0674 for an appointment.
  • ADDS, (Alcohol Drug Dependency Service) Moses Lake, 509-764-5206. ADDS also has an office in Ellensburg. They no longer provide cessation classes but they do have educational materials and provide a viewing of a tobacco video during their Drug and Alcohol classes as well as Quit Line materials for their participants.
  • Tobacco Quit Line: 1-800-QUIT-NOW, 1-800-784-8669, Spanish: 1-800-2NO-FUME (266-3863)
  • Washington State's Quit Line website link is www.quitline.com or click here .

Youths 17 years old and younger may call the same Quit Line phone number but will only receive counseling with parental consent. Click here for the Youth website.

Quit for You, Quit for Two Campaign

Did you know that 8,000 babies are born each year to women who smoked during pregnancy in Washington state? And that more than 40 percent of women who quit smoking while pregnant begin again after giving birth? Smoking while pregnant and after the baby is born is harmful to the health of both mother and baby, increasing the chances of asthma and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Quit for You Quit for Two is a new campaign designed to help pregnant and postpartum women quit smoking . Check out the Quit for You Quit for Two page to learn more.The site includes resources for both pregnant women and health care providers. Click here for tips to help pregnant moms quit smoking.

Quit services are free for pregnant women. No health insurance is required!
