Birth Certificates
On January 1, 2021, a new vital records law and rules went into effect that changed the ordering requirements for birth and death certificates.
- For increased security of personal information, only individuals with specific relationships to the person on the record being requested can receive a certified copy.
- Identity and proof of relationship documentation will be required.
- The certificate fee increased to $25 per copy.

Ordering a Birth Certificate
You can submit applications and payment in person, by mail, or online from Grant County Health District.
- The cost for a certified copy is $25.
- Acceptable forms of payment are cash, money order, or credit card, A credit card can be used online or by phone. There is an additional fee to use a credit card.
- Identity and proof of relationship documentation will be required. See acceptable documentation for proof of identity (PDF).

The Grant County Health District is only able to provide certified birth certificates for births occurring in Washington State from 1907 to the present. Certificates for births occurring prior to 1907 can be accessed by calling 360-236-4300.
Death Certificates
Deaths Occurring After October 2014
The Grant County Health District only provides certified death certificates for deaths occurring in Washington State after October 2014.
You can submit applications and payment in person, by mail, or online from the Grant County Health District.
- The cost for a certified copy is $25.

Deaths Prior to October 2014
Deaths occurring prior to October 2014 can be accessed online through the Washington Electronic Death Registration System. A list of participating counties can be found on that website.

Fetal Death Certificates
Qualified applicants for a fetal death certificate are
- Parent
- Sibling
- Grandparent
- Parent's Legal Representative
- Authorized Representative
- Funeral Director
- Funeral Establishment listed on the record (up to 12 months from the date of death)
- Government Agency or the Courts (only for official duties)
